Virginia Down Payment Assistance

The following mortgage down payment assistance program was developed by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development through funds provided by the federal HOME Partnership Investment Fund (HOME). See more information about local Virginia down payment assistance programs.

• Maximum loan of 10% of the purchase price toward the down payment, and up to $2,500 toward closing costs


• Total Household Income cannot exceed 80% of the Area Median Income


• Must be a first time homebuyer to receive down payment assistance in Virginia through this program

To qualify for down payment assistance in Virginia, buyers are required to participate in a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved homebuyer education through a VHDA or Neighborworks certified course.
