The following mortgage down payment assistance programs were developed as a part of the Connecticut Housing Development Fund (HDF) First Time Buyers Program. See more information about local Connecticut down payment assistance programs.
American Dream Down Payment Initiative (ADDI)
- Maximum loan of 6% of the purchase price or $10,000 (whichever is greater)
- Loan amount decreases annually on a pro-rata basis when the lien will be released as long as the buyer remains in the home
- Total household income cannot exceed 80% of the Area Median Income for the Stamford-Norwalk, Bridgeport, or Danbury Metropolitan Statistical Areas
Workforce Housing Down Payment Fund
- Interest-free loan to be used toward the costs of down payment in Connecticut
- Buyers must purchase property in the community in which they work
- Lower transportation costs
Home Buyer's Education
To qualify for down payment assistance in Connecticut, buyers are required to attend an 8-hour HDF orientation session and complete the HDF homeownership counseling program.
