A Different Kind of Mortgage Company Since 2001
The Beginning
My name is Glenn Belt, President of Meridian Home Mortgage®. I started the company over Thanksgiving weekend in 2001 with my longtime friend, Mike Zgorski. We were working in the mortgage industry for years and were frustrated with the big bank mentality of poor customer service, hidden fees, and a profit-first approach to lending. We thought that we could do better.
Together, we took a leap of faith with one goal in mind: to treat every family the way we would like ours to be treated. We opened our office on Main Street in our hometown of Hampstead (better known as “small town USA”) in rural Carroll County, MD.
We began small by hiring and training family members and close friends; many of whom still work here today. We’re convinced that this foundation is the reason we’ve been able to help thousands of families purchase homes, pay off debt and reduce monthly payments.
Staying True to Our Roots
Eventually, we grew and relocated across the street from our original office. While we have expanded our services to 14 states, we still treat every customer as if they are our neighbors. Walk into the office and you’ll find brothers, daughters and other family members working with Mike and me. You might even be greeted by the company dog, a bull terrier named Winston.
I manage the staff and make sure every member of our team is committed to excellent service while Mike handles the operations of the business. You can still find us today, on "downtown Main Street" in Hampstead.
